Geckos and Good Cheer: Hanging Out With Supreme Gecko

Some channels teach you about reptiles. Others feel like you just got invited into the living room, handed something warm, and told, “Alright… let’s talk geckos.”

That is Supreme Gecko.

If you have ever watched Wally Kern on YouTube, you already know the feel. It is cozy, family friendly, and genuinely kind. Wally is often joined by his wife Nanette, who brings that calm steady energy so many reptile families appreciate, and their granddaughter Crystal, because what is better than geckos? Geckos plus family time.

We found Supreme Gecko last year, started following along, and pretty quickly thought, these are our people. They make the reptile hobby feel bigger, safer, and more welcoming, especially for families. Hopefully one day Kiley’s Krtters will make it out to the mid-west and catch them at a show!

Who is Supreme Gecko?

Supreme Gecko is a husband-and-wife team that breeds geckos and shares what they have learned with the reptile community on YouTube. They have various reptile and kritter care guides , unboxings, and occasional interviews of other people within he hobby!

They also run an online store where you can find geckos and isopods, plus supplies and helpful info for keepers. If you like learning and shopping from folks who clearly care about the animals, then these are your people.

Dad has watched their Dubia Roach sorting video a number of times to work up the courage to do it himself!

The Supreme Gecko feel (why we keep coming back)

There is a certain tone that is hard to fake. Supreme Gecko has it.

Wally teaches like a friend explaining things at the kitchen table. No gatekeeping. No ego. No “you are doing it wrong” energy. Just real experience, real care, and a real desire to help people do right by their animals. Nanette is generally around to keep him in check, but in a fun loving way. The genuine excitement of what they do can be seen in their granddaughter when she either joins the live streams or an informative vide.

And for reptile families, especially those with kids, these things matter a lot!

The big holiday tradition: 12 Supreme Days of Christmas (12SDOC)

Now let’s talk about the thing that makes us want to stand up and clap. It is the epitome of the holiday spirit!

Supreme Gecko runs the 12 Supreme Days of Christmas event, also known as 12SDOC, each year. It is a huge holiday giveaway that brings together a long list of donors who contribute gifts for the reptile community.

This year marks their 14th year running the event. Fourteen years is not a one time holiday promo! It is a real tradition that deserves a comfy couch, warm blanket, and a hot cocoa while watching and participating!

The idea is simple and awesome: give back to the reptile community, spotlight donors and vendors and breeders, and keep the hobby connected.

One detail that really stuck with us is that it is not just “here are prizes.” It is organized, community driven, and built around sharing and promoting the donors too, so everyone gets a little boost.

12SDOC had some huge numbers in 2024 for the event!

• 2024 totals: 136 donors, 463 gifts, and over $47,000 in gift value!!!

This year they ran into a little stumble as the family got sick right after Day 5 of the event. Unfortunately they had to put the event on pause through the holidays. We are happy to report they are healthy and have started the event back up! It may not be leading up to Christmas at this point, in 2026, but you got to hand it to Wally, Nanette, and team for continuing the event as the show must go on! So there are still a few days left! We are spotlighting Supreme Gecko because they represent what we love about the reptile world:
